โปรเจ็คต์นำเสนอมุมมองเรื่อง “น้ำ” ผ่านประสบการณ์และสายตาของคนทำอาหารและเชฟ ที่มีพื้นฐานในอาหารแตกต่างประเภทกันในรูปแบบ 9 บทสนทนา ซึ่งศิลปินได้ทำอาหารประเภทนั้นด้วยคือขนมหวานดั้งเดิมญี่ปุ่น (Wagashi) โดยได้เลือกวากาชิประเภทเจลลี่มาใช้อธิบายเรื่องราวของน้ำที่ได้จากการปรุงบทสนทนาเหล่านั้น
การนำเสนอบนพื้นที่ถูกจัดทำในรูปแบบศิลปะจัดวางและเพอร์ฟอร์มานซ์ โดยสรุปบทสนทนาภายใต้คอนเซปต์ ‘น้ำใส’ มาสร้างสรรค์เป็นชุดครัว ซึ่งเลือกใช้วัสดุ ไม้ และกระจก เป็นหลักเพื่อนำเสนอภาพลักษณ์ความเรียบง่ายและความใสของน้ำ ซึ่งเปิดให้ผู้ชมได้เข้ามามีปฏิสัมพันธ์เพื่อทำความเข้าใจภาษาของน้ำได้ด้วยตนเอง ซึ่งน้ำไม่ได้เป็นเพียงวัสดุเท่านั้นแต่ยังสามารถบอกเล่าเรื่องราวและความรู้สึกของผู้คนที่ผูกพันธ์ต่อน้ำของตนนั้นได้ด้วย
This project delves into the concept of “water” through nine dialogues with chefs and cooks. Each dialogue explores a specific cuisine, and I have created a traditional Japanese confection (Wagashi) to represent the water used in each. A unifying element is a special water-based Wagashi made with clear water, agar agar, and sugar, symbolizing the water that flows through all the dialogues.
These delicacies, paired with recipes inspired by the Thai concept of “Nam-Sai” (meaning “clear water”), serve as a key to unlocking the multifaceted nature of water in cuisine. They don’t directly reveal human identities, but rather the unique ways water shapes and reflects those identities within different culinary traditions.
Presented as an art installation and performance, the project summarizes the dialogues under the concept of ‘Nam-Sai.’ A kitchen set crafted from wood and glass represents the simplicity and purity of water. Audiences are encouraged to interact with the installation, gaining a deeper understanding of the “language” of water. Water, beyond just a material, can tell stories and express the emotions of those connected to it.
